Yes — Surabaya Zoo is excellent for families. Children can enjoy animal feeding experiences with deer, elephants, and giraffes, a dedicated playground area, the interactive Giz Park glowing zone, and the Wisata Hutan Menyala (Glowing Forest Tour). The affordable ticket price of Rp 7,500 for children makes it one of the most budget-friendly family attractions in East Java. Allow half a day to a full day for a complete visit.
The best time to visit Surabaya Zoo is on a weekday morning, ideally between 08:00 and 11:00, to avoid weekend crowds and midday heat. Avoid visiting during Indonesian public holidays such as Lebaran (Eid) and school holidays when the zoo can become very crowded.
